Workwear Styles that Flatter

So most of you know I am an occupational therapist working in homecare. This means I wear scrubs to work- not too much excitement with those, right! I have however worked in retail before I became an OTR and really did enjoy dressing up! In fact, I wish as an OT I could dress up everyday!! (Maybe I need a management position, lol)!!

Anyway- I’ve been asked quite a few times to show some fun workwear pieces that flatter figures and won’t break the bank. So today I’m rounding up a few key pieces that I think are great separates and can be worn so many ways that you won’t get sick of them!! I’m also linking shoes and accessories too! I’m sharing everything in my stories and will add them to my highlights as well so you can have easy access to watch and shop whenever you want!! (All pics again taken in my bedroom mirror, so sorry about the yuck lighting).

First up let’s chat pants! One to two pairs of black dress pants should be in your wardrobe! I love this ankle length pair from Universal Standard. The brand is size inclusive and their items legit last forever and are amazing quality!! Oh and the pants can be worn two ways, when you check them out you’ll see what I mean! I personally think the most flattering black pant has just the right amount of stretch and falls right above the ankle bone! (So darn flattening when worn with pumps/heels/ankle boots)! This pair of black pants is also a great option, as are these!

Next up, a simple & classy LBD at a knee length style. My exact one is from Cabi, but this one here or here are both amazing options! A back dress can be worn with a blazer, a cardigan, or alone for soooo many style options!!!

Ok, now let’s chat blazers! You should also have one or two of these! I like a pop of red! A red blazer really is an eye catcher and brightens up your entire outfit!! It can be worn over a dress, with the black pants, and even on casual Friday’s with denim! My go to blazer is like this red one and I love my navy one. Here is another great option. See below how I styled the blazer with a striped dress (similar dress here, here, and here– also great for work and weekend)!!

Now onto skirts, these are also a staple workwear piece. A classic black or navy skirt can be worn multiple ways. I personally prefer a knee length or below style, but if you want to go shorter, please make sure you keep the rest of the look classy (remember you are at work ladies- if you have to keep pulling it down then you shouldn’t be wearing it)!! I’ve rounded up some really lovely options for ya here, here, and here. I encourage you to check them all out as each is a different length and have some lovely details too!

Next up let’s chat about tops, including a good cardigan and some lovely blouses! You obviously need a blouse otherwise, well… I’m pretty sure you understand why you need to wear tops/blouses πŸ˜† I’ve rounded up some of my faves including peplum ones like in my pics below seen here, here, and here as well as a great white one like this one here and here (white should definitely be in your closet ladies). Also you can add some color and pattern like this animal print one here, or this one here or here.

Then we have cardigans! You probably already own a few but I wanted to make sure they made the list. I love a good pop of color like this mustard/marigold one that just became available! Make sure to check it out, such a lovely color!!! Cardigans keep you warm even in summer in a cool air conditioned office!

So next up is denim! On casual Fridays every gal should own some dark denim or black denim jeans to wear to work. I live and swear by these exact ones here. They are high rise, dark rinse and super slimming. Like literally, they suck you in and sculpt you (it’s in the name too, lol). I own them in the size 14 and the fit is legit! I also own this black pair and both are great options and fit great as well, you won’t be disappointed!

Now let’s chat shoes, my fave thing to shop for- I just LOVE LOVE shoe shopping πŸ›I’m sharing with you today a few options that can be worn to work and beyond!! First is the classic patent pump. This is a must have. I have one that won’t break the bank and has a flattering pointy toe. Here and here are great options and have good reviews. I also highly recommend this pair of black heels. They have a fun detail on them and I’m all about unique items, trust me, these are good and on sale right not too if you shop at Kohls!!

I also love a good closed toe mule. I own multiple pairs of these. Black is a versatile color and would make a great addition to your collection and these here and here are awesome! I also recently found these pumps at my fave store (any guesses)…. I bought them in this gorgeous shade of blue and they make my outfits pop and best yet, the pumps under $25 πŸ™ŒπŸ» I also wear them on weekends with jeans and they are so darn comfy- more colors available too!!!

Ok last thing I wanted to mention is accessories! I don’t leave home without them. Whether it’s a fun earring or necklace, I’m always wearing something when I leave home (even with my scrubs I have a necklace I wear everyday)!! I’m a sucker for long necklaces however and I’ve rounded up a few of my faves that are definitely budget friendly and can be worn all the time! (See my stories over on Instagram, I wore the same faux pearl one in almost every story). Here, here, here, and here are great options.

Phew, ok- thanks for reading all of this!! I hope I’ve given you some style inspiration on what to wear to the office and just a few more fun ways to style items multiple ways!

Shop everything all together in one place on the app (I have 3 posts all about my picks) and you can shop it all- I also saved my workwear Try On to my highlights on Instagram! As always, thanks for reading and send me a DM with any questions!!
