Mad for Plaid

Well, it’s September, which means it’s time to bring out the plaid for fall! I am literally mad for plaid! I’m not quite sure what it is about plaid, maybe my country girl roots, but for whatever reason I’m going to show you today my favorite plaid pieces and how I plan to incorporate them into my fall wardrobe! Oh and of course they are all affordable, easy to wear styles that you’ll love!

First up, the plaid duster! I have two of them I’m going to show you! Both of these are from the same store and both are comfortable and versatile for fall into winter as well. My fave colors are burnt orange and mustard so I immediately fell in love with the duster below! It’s soft, fits true to size (I’m wearing the large), and it’s easy to style!

I like wearing the plaid duster with jeans. I’m a casual girl and most often you’ll catch me wearing high rise jeans like the ones in the pic above. These cropped jeans are only $24. They have a raw hem and are so crazy comfortable with just the right amount of stretch. I finished the look with a cropped sleeveless top and gray booties as well as these closed toe mules!

Next up is the plaid dress I’m wearing as a duster as well! This plaid dress has pockets and looks great buttoned up and belted with OTK boots. I’m also wearing a size large and it fits great.

I’m wearing the plaid dress with cropped high rise distressed hem jeans, open toe booties, and a cute button detail tank top (it’s only $10 too ladies- I love it so much I have it in two colors).

Next plaid piece is a simple gray and white plaid button down. I buy mine from the same retailer every year because they sell them in tall sizes which are what I buy so I can wear them with leggings too! This one here I decided to wrap around my waist with a cute peach colored dress. My dress is from Perfectly Priscilla (see my Instagram post for more details on this dress and a discount code as well) and I love the way the dress and plaid top pair together. I finished the look with gray closed toe mules and a statement necklace. By wrapping a flannel around your waist and adding closed toe shoes, it can make a pretty summer outfit more fall appropriate.

Last up is this sheer plaid duster that almost looks like a kimono! I love that this piece is lightweight which makes it perfect for the warmer fall days. I am wearing the duster with a lacy bralette and my corduroy pants I am obsessed with! These pants are high rise and fit like a dream. I also wore it with a white button detail tank too; I love how just switching a top can create a whole new look!! I completed the outfit with block heel sandals like these or these.

So there ya have it, my most recent plaid purchases and how I have styled them! I hope I have given you some inspiration on ways to style these pieces. Thanks again for shopping with my links and taking the time to read my posts! Have a question about sizing and fit, drop me a comment below!!

  1. I think one of my first blog posts ever for fall was called “mad for plaid” because, girlfriend, I completely, 100% agree that it’s the best autumn print! So classic!
