The #1 Trench You Need Now

Spring arrives on March 20th, which also happens to be one of my daughters birthdays too, double bonus!  When I think of spring, all of the new fashion trends come alive and dance in my head.  But to be honest, spring in Michigan means hopefully no more snow (fingers crossed) and slightly warmer temps (think consistent 50’s).  So with that said, its nice to have a lightweight jacket to throw on, and one that wont be too heavy and cause you to overheat when grocery shopping, running errands, or picking the kids up from school.  Speaking of jackets, here’s my #1 pick for spring and summer (yup, this can be worn on summer evenings and right into fall in my opinion).

You all know by now, I am not one to shy away from bold patterns and bright colors.  When I first saw this black & white gingham trench my eyes lit up.  I have another trench I wear in spring too, its navy & white, but this pattern on the black & white one is ever so chic and stylish, it just exudes classy too.  I adore the flow of the jacket.  It is meant to be oversized, but with that said, I did size down one size as I thought this complimented my figure more.  The sleeves are loose and have a lovely attached tie feature on the cuff.  It also comes with an attached belt and you can notice that i loosely knotted the ends of mine for another fun detail!

I am wearing this trench (which is a soft twill material by the way, not the typical rain trench coat material you think of when you hear the word ‘trench coat’) with hi rise distressed denim (similar) of course or this pair too (similar). But, I gotta say I have also styled this with black leggings (my very fave high waisted ones you can find here for under $20), a black shift dress(under $25 and lace details on that one, check it out),  patent boots, and styled this jacket as the topper (or should I say show stopper).  This coat is literally so chic you will not want to take it off, and because of the way it is made, you wont have to.  It is not hot at all, but made of breathable soft twill as I mentioned above, so basically it can be styled and worn as you would a loose fitting boyfriend cardigan.  (Just to add too, this is NOT a waterproof jacket, just in case you wanted one of those, this is not for you then lol).

Lastly, lets talk about the price.  This modern trench is under $50, so its priced just right for a coat that can be worn many seasons and with many outfits. Oh, and in case you want a more classic take on this jacket, it does come in a neutral khaki color too.  All sizes are still available for purchase.  (just keep in mind the sizing, you should size down one entire size for a better fit). As always, thanks for reading, and if you have time, I’d love if you would sign up to subscribe to my blog by leaving your email.  And don’t forget to scroll down and shop my looks too.  I post new outfits all the time, lots of which never make it to my Instagram!! (oh, and p.s. if you love that cute black bag seen above, its vegan! You can find it and a whole line of vegan bags here).

  1. Look how striking that coat is!!! The checked print really does stand out – especially as a coat. We’re just heading into Autumn over here so I’m looking forward to bringing out my trenches and jackets again!
